Obituary of Ricky L. Schermerhorn

Stratton, Colorado resident Rick L. Schermerhorn passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at his home in Stratton, Colorado. He was 50 years old.

Rick was born on December 24, 1968 to James Lyle and JoAnn (Thomas) Schermerhorn. He was one of three children born to this union.

He attended school in many different places due to the family moved around a lot over his childhood years. He graduated from high school in 1987.

Rick was an over the road truck driver enjoyed welding and helping events with the Elizabeth Stampede Rodeo in Colorado along with his Uncle’s Leon and Leroy Thomas.

Some of his favorite pass times were watching the Denver Broncos, as he was a diehard fan of them, spending time with his daughter, granddaughter and his family, loved listening and singing country music, hunting big game, camping, boating and riding the rapids on the Rouge River in Grants Pass, Oregon.

You could always find him wearing his cowboy hat and boots, he was just a good ole country boy.

He will be missed dearly by all his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memories are his mother, JoAnn Houck and Step Father Lucky Houck of Stratton, Colorado, his daughter, Kristina Schermerhorn and granddaughter Aza Love Schermerhorn both of Grants Pass, Oregon, his brother Kel Schermerhorn and his wife Shannon of Parker, Colorado.  His brother John Schermerhorn and his wife Trina of Grants Pass, Oregon. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his dad, James Lyle Schermerhorn.

His final wishes were to be cremated and no services held.
