Lucy Butson posted a condolence
Wednesday, January 8, 2020
My heartfelt condolences to the Nunez family. My name is Lucy (Serbantez) Butson and I literally grew up with Gloria. We were a group of five. Gloria, her sister Lupe, her 2 nieces Amelia and Emma, and myself a close family friend, who lived right next door. When we were teenagers, we were inseparable. Many many dances we attended, but always together. Gloria was the Matriarch of this group, she taught us the right and wrongs of how to act in social settings. Always with a gentle smile, or a good pinch if we needed it. LOL. Though she married and moved far away, she was never far from my thoughts. Again, my sincere condolences.

I am so sorry for your loss. My Aunt Carmen Garcia from Albion and your Mom were the best of friends. Always going to the Mexican dances at the Latin American Club. Your Mom also did my hair for my Quincinera and we always had a joke going on. While I was under the dryer I was singing a Donny Osmond song, "Go away little girl" and under the hair dryer you can't hear very well, so I was singing at the top of my lungs. Your Mom just smiled at me. It wasn't until later, your Mom told me that story. She was an awesome friend and I will always remember the good times we share. Sending hugs and prayers to your dad and your family.

I'm so sorry to hear of Gloria's passing. I first met Gloria while working at the Industrial Bank some 35 years ago, I always admired her generosity and quiet nature. I will never forget calling upon her few years back to help me as a victim advocate to help translate with a mother and father who had been in a car accident on the interstate late one night at which time they lost their twin infant boys. Gloria was so kind to set with me at the hospital and help these parents all through this tough day, putting aside her own duties and family so she could help them make the necessary arrangements. I could never thank her enough for helping that day..
And I know I don't have to tell you that is just the kind of person Gloria was, kind hearted, caring & sweet. I will miss seeing her occasionally around town.
